Overview
  • HighTec Energy provided Front End Engineering Design followed by Detailed Engineering Design for a new 100,000 barrels per day refinery to be located in Africa
  • Refinery will consist of three trains, and common FCC Unit
Project Milestones

Refinery construction will be divided into two Phases:

  • Phase 1: First 30,000 barrels per day Train
  • Phase 2: 35,000 barrels per day for Trains 2 & 3

All Trains: Addition of advanced refining capabilities to expand specialized refined products

  • Ex: VFO (Vacuum Fuel Oil) to be converted into Diesel and increased LPG cuts (which will allow you to build an “on-demand” PDH plant)
Design Basis

Front End Engineering Design parameters based off provided crude slate (API = 26)

HYSYS by Aspen Tech was used as the design modeling software

Benefits of a multi-train Refinery:

  • Allows refinery to get up and going with future addition of heavier processing to convert
  • If one train goes down, you do not lose 100% of your refining capability
  • 30 Days of feed and product storage (no single storage tank, at least a spare for maintenance)
